Dan Wesson Firearms has been building drool-worthy firearms since 1968, and the Guardian is the one that might finally make you a high-end 1911 guy.
CZ-USA’s Dylan Rice shows Ryan Gresham what makes it the lightest gun in the Dan Wesson lineup — an alloy frame instead of the usual full steel, a bobbed mainspring housing that shaves weight and cuts down on printing, and a skeletonized hammer. All of it aimed at carry, none of it at the expense of how the gun shoots. These are still semi-custom pieces, hand-fit before they leave the factory, available in .45, 9mm, or .38 Super. Even the presentation box is built like something you’d hand down.
Then Ryan takes it to the range, where the old 1911 rule says you have to pick one: loose and reliable, or tight and accurate. The Guardian is unmistakably tight. So he runs it fast, then puts it on a bag at 21 feet to see whether tight cost him anything.
