CZ just released the CZ Duty Series, and Jeff Gonzales sat down with us to walk through what makes it different — starting with the thing he wants everyone to hear first: the P10 isn't going anywhere. The Duty is a new line, not a replacement.
From there, it gets interesting. The Duty Series is CZ's first foray into a chassis-based design, meaning you can pull the fire control unit and drop it into whatever frame you want. Jeff expects a whole cottage industry to grow up around it. He also makes the case that this is the first truly 100% ambidextrous pistol — controls on both the left and right side, with no need to reverse a magazine release or send it back to the armory to set it up for a southpaw.
Under the surface: a cold hammer-forged barrel rated for roughly 50,000 rounds of standard-pressure ammo or 25,000 rounds of +P, backed by a lifetime warranty and an optics mounting approach built to sit as low as possible while fitting as many footprints as the market has thrown at it.
Jeff put several thousand rounds through it over the back half of this year, and what surprised him most wasn't the spec sheet — it was what happened when he pushed the pace. His group dispersion at speed held together better than he expected, and his accuracy threshold moved up.
