Taurus unveiled the latest evolution of its acclaimed, award-winning Taurus TX 22 line just this past May at the NRRAM. Designed to exceed expectations and cater to the diverse needs of shooters, the upgraded Taurus TX 22 sets a new standard for performance-driven pistols. This is a full-sized .22 pistol featuring enhanced iron sights, slide cuts for faster cycling, and an optics-ready configuration. When speaking to the Marketing Manager Caleb Giddings, he believed the new TX 22 TORO is poised to become a favorite among women shooters and new shooters in general. I have attended several Women’s range days, and commonality is the use of .22 caliber pistols. With a price point of $363.99, this is a very affordable addition to any collection. Whether refining skills or enjoying a day of target practice, this pistol delivers consistent performance.

Key Features

Taurus Performance Trigger System (PTS)

At the heart of the enhanced Taurus TX 22 lies the Taurus Performance Trigger System (PTS). This system delivers a short, smooth pull and an ergonomic grip, ensuring optimal comfort and control. With every shot, the PTS enhances performance, making the TX 22 TORO an excellent choice for practice and training.

Picatinny Rail

Built for versatility, the Taurus TX 22 features a MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail. In turn, allowing  users to customize their setup with a wide array of pistol-sized tactical lights, laser sights, or light/laser combinations, catering to individual preferences and enhancing shooting capabilities.

Threaded Barrel

Engineered for adaptability, the Taurus TX 22 includes a threaded barrel and suppressor adapter collar. With an external thread of 1/2-28, compatible with most .22LR suppressors available, users can enjoy sound reduction and stealth capabilities, making this pistol a flexible tool for various shooting scenarios.

Slide Lightening Cuts

Incorporating proprietary slide lightning cuts, the Taurus TX 22 addresses concerns about the added weight of optics without compromising reliability. These strategic cuts reduce the weight in the slide, enhancing maneuverability and agility for improved performance.

Enhanced Iron Sights

Catering to traditionalists, the enhanced iron sights of the Taurus TX 22 feature high-contrast white dot front sights and serrated rear sights. This optimizes visibility and reduces glare, improving shooting accuracy and target acquisition.

Additional Features

The enhanced Taurus TX 22 includes a 22-round magazine and a 16-round magazine, providing ample firepower for extended shooting sessions. Additionally, the optics-ready configuration offers users the option to customize their shooting experience with their preferred optic systems.

Appeal to Women and New Shooters

The Taurus TX 22 TORO offers several benefits that make it particularly appealing to women shooters. One of the significant advantages of a full-size .22 caliber pistol is the ability to practice with the correct size and form, ensuring that new shooters and women can develop proper shooting techniques and muscle memory. The .22 caliber is known for its low recoil, making it less intimidating and more comfortable for extended practice sessions. Additionally, the affordability of .22 caliber ammunition makes frequent practice sessions more reasonable and budget-friendly. While the Taurus TX 22 TORO is an excellent training tool, it is also the ultimate range gun, with its manageable design, smooth trigger pull, and customizable features, making it a joy to shoot at the range.  Although it is not my personal recommendation for an everyday carry pistol due to its lower caliber, it is certainly better than nothing if this is what you are most comfortable with. Its reliability and ease of use make it a viable option for those who prioritize familiarity and comfort over full stopping power. ~ Bethany
