Recently, I journeyed back home to the Sooner State in search of adventure—or more accurately, GunVenture. Who knew I’d find it in a donut shop and a place called Fouled Bore Precision?
GunVenture tests one’s ability to step outside “normal.” A donut shop doesn’t exactly sound like wild stuff, but the donuts cranked out rattle the senses.
Brad Brumfield from Sig Sauer made the call – dessert at Hurts Donut. Our entire group decided to test the Oreo Cheesecake donut. After tasting the delicious giant, I wondered why I hadn’t been a regular there when I lived in Oklahoma. My picture should be on the wall and a gold plate should indicate where I sat every day. The experience, although a small one, should be experienced. Speaking of something everyone should try – have you heard of FREE RECOIL?
Justin Watts runs Fouled Bore Precision and retired a military sniper. The man can shoot. I should know. He took aim at my wrist watch with a Springfield M1A, iron sights, from 200 yards. You’ll have to catch the episode to find out the results.
Watts taught the GunVenture crew about free recoil. At 350 yards, he consistently hit a six-inch gong without the gun meeting his support shoulder. He braces the rifle, pressing firmly down on the scope with his off hand, aligns his shot and presses the trigger until the shot breaks. All of this without his shoulder taking any recoil.
GunVenture. A place for decadent pastries and an education in free recoil.

Kevin Jarnagin (KJ) hails from Oklahoma, but quickly established Louisiana roots after joining the Gun Talk team. KJ grew up as a big game hunter, and knows his way around a bass boat. Whether it’s making his way to British Columbia for elk or training with pistols, Jarnagin always seems to find a gun in his hands and adventure on his mind.
