Product Edition - NRA Annual Meetings
The 2019 NRA Annual Meetings are in the book. This year was an odd mix of closed-door meetings, whispers, and new product launches. With all the turmoil surrounding the NRA, let’s focus on the cool products. When I walk the show floor, I’m looking for products that would help my everyday life. I’ve set aside three products that, in my opinion, help any shooter.
American Defense Manufacturing rethinks the optics mounts by producing the Recon Titanium mount. Let’s face it. I’m not 100-percent sure why more companies aren’t utilizing titanium. The strength and weight savings make the Recon a viable option for shooters looking to lighten up their rig.
The Recon mount will be available in two colors and 30mmand 34mm options. The difference in traditional mounts and the Recon is surprising. For me, the Recon Titanium mount was made for mountain rifles. More specifically, I have a gun that I built to carry all day without fear of fatigue. The price tag is $254.99, but don’t let that scare you. The slim design of the Recon is worth it. Find out more HERE.
When I walked past the booth, it was difficult not to notice the robust storage boxes provided by Bronc Box. Being a traveling hunter, the Bronc Box stood out because it looked durable as all get out. Plus, the entire box is adaptive to the needs of shooters and outdoorsmen and women.
The Bronc Box possesses a two-inch foam-filled rotomolded shell, much like the ice chests that have taken over. There’s no doubt the Bronc Box travels great, but the weight of 54…ish pounds makes airline overage fees a guarantee. For me, the amount of gear I can store in the box is worth it. I can throw in two guns, ammo, camouflage, daily clothing, camera gear, and accessories for a ten-day trip to Canada without cluttering up my space.
The over-sized amount of storage space and ruggedness make the Bronc Box an excellent option for the traveler. Find out more HERE.
PRS Barricade Rails
I’m new to the PRS game, but I know a great idea when I see it. AREA 419 produces the ARCALOCK Rail system that mechanically locks the rifle in place instead of just friction. Traditional Arca rail systems tend to slide under pressure. The ARCHALOCK Rail system has a proprietary clamp design that firmly locks the rifle in place on PRS barricade stops.
Area 419 also produces accessories that attach to the ARCALOCK rail. For the PRS shooter, there are other Arca rail options, but the entire ARCALOCK system simply works. It has 58 locking positions, which are marked to offer quick adjustments for known objects.
What makes the system work is a combination of the serrations on the rail and the proprietary clamp system. Hardly any force is needed to lock the gun to the barricade. This is a must have for any PRS Shooter. For more information CLICK HERE.
With all the hubbub surrounding the NRA, let’s switch our focus to the gear. The NRA Annual Meetings is a great place to visit with old friends and see the newest products.

Kevin Jarnagin (KJ) hails from Oklahoma but quickly established Louisiana roots after joining the Gun Talk team. KJ grew up as a big game hunter and often finds himself in a bass boat. Whether it’s making his way to British Columbia for elk or training with pistols, Jarnagin always seems to find a gun in his hands and adventure on his mind.
