Records, Photographs and the Gift of You

I’ve been thinking about photographs a lot this week as I launched a new project. More about that below.

Here’s a gift for yourself and any family member or friend with guns. You’ll remember that we had a house fire last year. I sunsetwas lucky and didn’t lose any guns, but it was a reminder. Make sure you have extra insurance that specifically covers your guns. Your homeowner’s insurance covers very little, if any. Add a rider for the firearms.

And here’s the gift. With today’s cell phones, which are really computers and cameras which also make calls, there’s no excuse for not having photos and even a video record of your guns and equipment. Take and hour or two, get the guns out, take photos of them, and even make a short video of each, with you reading the serial number and describe the gun. That’s your gift to yourself. Put those files on a computer drive that is NOT in the same building as the guns. Also, link them to your cloud account.

Now, offer to do that for someone in your family. Could be a father or grandfather, or maybe a mother or grandmother. Present that person with a “certificate” from you, good for a complete documentation of the guns. It costs you nothing, rainbowand it’s important. Plus, this gift really isn’t the service. This gift actually is you.

Pictures As Gifts

Some listeners of Gun Talk Radio know I’m a photographer. I started off taking pictures for my father when I was 13. He handed me a Rolleiflex camera to make photos of him for his bass fishing book. From then on I was hooked, and I’ve had hundreds or thousands of photos published in magazines through the years.

Just this week I made some of them available, and they would make great gifts, if I do say so myself. They are scenic and landscapes from places I’ve been. You can put them on cell phone covers, tote bags, and (of course) get them as prints. Take a look and let me know what you think. You can post comments on the site, or you can jump onto the Gun Talk Media Facebook page.

Thanks for taking a look. I really appreciate it. ~ Tom
