If you are serious about personal defense, you really and truly need to attend a good shooting school. Gunsite, in Arizona, Shootrite Firearms Academy, in Alabama, and Thunder Ranch, in Oregon, are three of the best. While the physical facilities are great, it's really the people and the quality of the instruction that make them world class. I've been to them all, and can recommend them without qualification.
The Examiner's National Gun Rights Journalist, David Codrea, is a long-time gun rights advocate who defiantly challenges the folly of citizen disarmament. He is a field editor for GUNS Magazine, and a blogger at The War on Guns: Notes from the Resistance.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation is the trade group for the firearms industry. It is to gun makes what the NRA is to gun owners. The NSSF puts on the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade) show each year. This is where new products are introduced, and I broadcast "Gun Talk" live from the SHOT Show to bring you news of all the cool stuff first seen there. The NSSF also has many great programs, from Scholastic Clays to the Step Outside program to educational efforts for gun dealers such as "Don't Lie for the Other Guy."
The Second Amendment Foundation is less well known than the NRA, but it gets a lot done. Feisty and efficient . . . that the SAF. And, it puts on the Gun Rights Policy Conference each September.

Knife Rights is a new organization started by my friend, Doug Ritter. He also asked me to serve on the board, to help get it going, and I was glad to do it. In short, this is the "NRA for knife owners." Check it out. It's definitely a worthwhile effort by one of the good guys.
Oleg Volk is a wonderful photographer, but he is so much more. His photos of guns (some are used on this web site) are art, but his posters carry a strong political message. These two sites are well worth checking out.
