Top Cop on Gun Talk Television

Mandeville, LA –Training is a major part of a law enforcement officer’s job –as a detective, a patrolman, or as a member of the SWAT Team or Special Ops force. On the latest episode of Gun Talk Television, six members from various Louisiana law enforcement agencies took part in an all-day training course to learn new techniques with AR-15 rifles, and compete for the title of “Top Cop” and an AR-15 of their own!

Law enforcement officers from the Pearl River, Covington, New Orleans and Walker Police Departments, the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Louisiana State Police came out to VATA Group in Covington, LA, for intense, law enforcement-specific training from Greg Lapin and Destin Mounts that put the officers to the test.

Using AR-15 rifles donated by Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Stag Arms, Colt, and Rock River Arms, the new Aimpoint PRO red dot optic, accessories from Brownells and ammunition from Black Hills Ammunition, the officers utilized every square foot of the range, even using two department vehicles for cover in the exercises. At the end of the day, one officer earned the title “Top Cop” and took home the prized AR-15 rifle.

The other officers didn’t leave empty-handed, though – for their participation, each of the five other departments received a rifle to donate to their department, thanks to Smith & Wesson, Stag Arms, Rock River Arms and ColtAimpoint donated red dot optics to the departments as well.
